Daniel Stevens


Daniel Stevens is a Director in RCG’s London office. He is a highly experienced renewable energy professional with a proven ability to maximize the value of projects and support sound investment decisions.

Mr Stevens has been responsible for the design, optimisation and yield modelling of multiple operational onshore and offshore wind projects, worldwide. As well as managing technical due diligence on renewable energy projects, he takes a multi-disciplinary approach to optimising assets and developments throughout their full life cycle.

Before joining RCG, Mr Stevens led resource assessment for a major investor-owned utility in the United Kingdom, where he drove the design and delivery of world-leading wind projects.  He was technical due diligence lead on numerous wind farm divestment and acquisition deals and the technical authority for turbine supply, warranty, and service contracts on some of the largest wind farms built in Europe.  Mr Stevens has established joint engineering and asset management teams to improve operational wind farm performance and develop cost of energy models, optimising wind farms for both energy yield and capex/opex costs.  Consultancy assignments have included leading technical due diligence, specialist modelling to support strategic public-sector planning, and project development support.  Mr Stevens has led pan-industry R&D committees on specific technical challenges facing the renewables industry.  He has a passion for collaboration and engineering excellence.

Mr Stevens is qualified in environmental science. He has attended business and executive leadership courses at Strathclyde University. He has also trained in occupational health and safety (IOSH).

Wind portfolio review
Technical due diligence on a 700 MW wind farm development portfolio in Latin America, including reviews of site conditions and energy yield predictions, power purchase contracts and development programmes.
Technical due diligence lead
Led due diligence on an operational onshore wind farm acquisition for a major global equity investor. This involved management of all technical appraisals, as well as yield, constraints, and availability modelling to inform the client’s commercial strategy.
Wind farm layout design
Undertook a benchmarking exercise on behalf of a US state authority to inform assumptions around wind farm power density and inter-site distances. This progressed to turbine layout design and array efficiency modelling for proposed lease areas.
